Another huge update is at the doors!
In this update, we are
- Preparing for Respawn iOS
- Created a completely new animation framework that supports Android 14 back gestures and fixes many other problems
- Introducing Infinite Scroll for your habits on ritual details
- Redesigned Ongoing Rituals to feature an app-wide overlay, just like in modern music players
- Added Promotional Codes that work way better than the google play ones
- Making some design improvements throughout the app
In this update, your ritual background images may disappear. We have optimized the app to consume less storage and it will now not waste your space by copying your images and storing them (that’s a risk for privacy and leads to the app taking a lot of space), but unfortunately there is no way to use the old images, so please select the images again.
New Features:
- Why settle with 10 days when you can have infinite? Pro Users can now scroll back into the past for up to 2 billion days on Ritual Details page. Enjoy checking in with your habits for 2 147 481 623 b.c.
- Promotional Codes! Users can now receive referral and promotional codes and apply them directly from the app. Unlike Google Play promo codes, our codes allow you to add the promo-code duration to your subscription, apply them when you already have a subscription, and can be used multiple times. Users will now also receive promo codes as their challenge rewards. Redeem a code from Settings → Subscription → Redeem Code page.
- Completely new app navigation features smooth, new animations, proper app links support, and Android “Predictive back gesture” that arrived in Android 14. Enjoy the new smooth transitions!
- Completely new Ongoing Rituals are now a persistent “media player” style widget just like in the YouTube app, and are now visible on every page of the app. The old “dynamic island” was replaced with a sleek sliding widget
- New redesigned app title widgets now hide themselves as you scroll down, feature new gorgeous font and a new back button!
- Improved app startup performance and general performance. This should make the app significantly faster, so fast that we have…
- Enabled advanced effects and blur for everyone! You can now use blur and new effects without a pro subscription and on all devices that support these features (Android 12 and above)
General improvements:
- Updated text input design with new symbol counter and new corners
- New Ritual details are much more performant than before and fix some jank when scrolling on low-end devices
- Quest Task descriptions are now collapsed by default and can be expanded to read in full
- Creating and editing a challenge will now show an animation when completed
- Removed annoying “overlay permission not granted” when launching a ritual without a permission. The app will now request this permission instead
- Updated design for quest details blurs the splash image and redesigns the “badge” cards
- Huge internal improvements to make the app 50% compatible with iOS
- Optimized app storage consumption by not copying ritual background images and using images from gallery instead.
- Added ability to sync the ritual background images on the same device. If you deleted or switched an account, your images may be restored if they are still present on the device
- Optimize the speed of loading images from the internet
- Updates to the app color scheme make the app easier on your eyes, especially on white theme
- Google has updated their designs, so we did as well — you now get new slider and progress bar designs with sleek animations according to Material You design system
- White color on white theme is now a whiter white
- Updated designs of number selectors are more compact
Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue where if a link to the app was opened but not found, it would show “reset password” instead for some reason
- New Ritual Details fix an old issue where the app would become more and more laggy and crash if scrolling through rituals for too long
- Fixed an issue where XP Gain popups would get stuck when swiping them on landscape
- Fixed a bug where if a password was reset the app would show a sign in page over and over
- Fixed issues with input validation when resetting password
- Fixed an issue where preinstalled habits would not get updated sometimes when first launching the app
- Fixed “Plus” button on Home visible even when there are no rituals or the app is still loading
- Fixed some text blocks throughout the app
- Fixed issues with app review popup not retrieving previous user reviews and stars not being animated
- Fixed various issues with logging out users from their accounts
- Fixed an issue where animated loading indicator would flicker for a moment
- Another attempt at fixing alarm pages overlapping status bars
Our plans for v2.9
- We will continue working on Respawn iOS to hopefully feature a first preview of the app soon
- Lifetime subscription! As soon as we have dealt with the paperwork necessary to accept payments, we can start working on the lifetime subscription option so many users have requested
- Widgets! We will be focusing on creating widgets for your rituals on the home screen of your device launcher
- New updated subscription page will better explain available plans, features, and the timeline of your subscription
- Improvements to challenges with new notifications and designs
